Astronomy for your students
The masterclass gives students who are curious about astronomy a structured path beyond the school curriculum, with a certificate their school and universities can verify.
Why schools recommend it
- Enrichment for strong students. Astronomy and astrophysics at a depth school rarely reaches, explained with school mathematics.
- Preparation for olympiads and competitions. The units cover the theory that astronomy olympiads test. See our olympiad preparation guide.
- Independent study. One unit a week, online, next to school. Students work at their own pace and need no supervision.
- A verifiable certificate. Students who pass the final exam receive a certificate and a transcript. Teachers and universities can check both online with the verification ID.
What students do
Each week a student receives a unit as a web page and as a PDF, reads it, and takes an open-book quiz of ten questions with explanations. Further reading, including current research papers, follows each unit. After the last unit of their masterclass they sit a final exam online. The Foundation masterclass has 8 units, the Advanced masterclass 12, and Advanced + Cosmology all 16.
You can look at the material before you recommend it: the curriculum describes every unit, and Unit 5 is free to read in full.
Tuition fee credits for your students
Schools, clubs and sponsors can give students tuition fee credits: a code that reduces the tuition fee, or covers it completely, when the student enrols. Write to us with the number of students and we will prepare the codes, each as a printable PDF.
