Terms and Conditions
These terms apply to the Astronomy & Astrophysics Masterclass ("the program"), offered by Edu.Harbour, Postfach 762135, 22069 Hamburg, Germany ("we").
1. The program
The program is an online educational program in astronomy and astrophysics. It consists of weekly units delivered by email and on this website, a quiz for each unit, further reading, and a final exam. Its scope depends on the masterclass you choose: Foundation (8 units), Advanced (12 units) or Advanced + Cosmology (16 units). The program is offered in English.
2. Account and enrolment
You create an account with your email address. You enrol by choosing a masterclass and paying the tuition fee. The contract is concluded when your payment is confirmed. An account is personal and may not be shared. If you are under 18, you need the consent of a parent or guardian to enrol.
3. Tuition fee
The tuition fee is a single payment in the amount shown at enrolment, including applicable taxes. It is paid by card through our payment provider Stripe. You receive an invoice by email.
4. Start of the program and right of withdrawal
The program is digital content that is not supplied on a physical medium. It starts, and the first unit is delivered, as soon as you have confirmed your details after payment. At enrolment you expressly agree that we begin to perform the contract before the withdrawal period ends, and you acknowledge that your statutory right of withdrawal expires when the program starts. If you have paid and not yet started the program, you may withdraw within 14 days of payment by writing to info@aamasterclass.org, and we refund the tuition fee.
5. Schedule
The first unit is sent when the program starts; each further unit is scheduled for the Monday after the previous unit was sent and is released once the quiz of the previous unit has been submitted. You may take longer without penalty, and you may request units ahead of schedule as described on the website. Access to the units of your masterclass remains available in your account after completion for as long as the program is offered.
6. Quizzes, final exam and certificate
Each quiz can be submitted once. The final exam opens after the last unit of your masterclass. It consists of 50 multiple-choice questions with a time limit of 60 minutes and is passed with 70% correct answers. You have 3 attempts with a waiting period of 3 days between attempts. If you pass, you receive a certificate and a transcript. If all attempts are used without passing, no certificate is issued; the tuition fee is not refunded in this case.
The name on the certificate is the name you enter when you start the program. It cannot be changed afterwards. The exam must be your own work; we may withdraw a certificate obtained by deception. The certificate confirms completion of the program; it is not an academic degree and carries no university credit.
7. Use of the material
The units, quizzes and other material are protected by copyright. You may use them for your own study and keep your PDF copies. You may not pass them on, publish them or use them commercially.
8. Research presented in the program
The units present and reference the published research of scientists who are not affiliated with the program and have not contributed to or endorsed it.
9. Availability and liability
We aim to keep the website and the email delivery available without interruption but cannot guarantee it. We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence and for injury to life, body or health. For slight negligence we are liable only for the breach of essential contractual obligations, limited to the foreseeable damage typical for this kind of contract.
10. Final provisions
German law applies; mandatory consumer protection rules of the country in which you live remain unaffected. Should a provision of these terms be invalid, the remaining provisions stay in force.
